About This Project
Mr & Mrs Bickley got in touch with us after our successful installation of a large solar array at Okehampton Community College. Mrs & Mrs Bickley are passionate about the environment and have installed this large array to help with their energy costs and carbon foot print of the Bed and Breakfast they operate. In fact their company car is the new leaf electric car and they provide charging points for all their guests.
How We Did It
We surveyed the site and the best location for the installation was at the top of a field next to the Bed and Breakfast. This involved digging a long trench through the field and installing an armoured cable to the house from the solar array. This cable was nearly 70m long. The solar array was then installed onto a wooden Ground mount system to ensure it blended in as much as possible and was in line with Upcott house’s environmental credentials. The panels used where REC who use renewable energy to create the panels reducing the carbon payback to 1 year. The system is now up and running and producing electricity for the whole Bed and Breakfast.
Staying at Upcott House.
During the installation all our engineers resided in Upcott house and thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Rooms are excellent and the welcome is always warm and friendly. If you are traveling to Devon on Holiday please look them up especially if you have an electric car. You can use the following link to find their website. http://www.upcotthouse.com/
Upcott House B&B is one of this year’s SMARTA Award recipients due to their unique eco friendly and low carbon initiatives such as the electric car charging point & installation of Solar PV panels.
