Eco Concepts are one of the Market leaders in Solar Panel installations for the Domestic Market in the South West. We install Solar Panels in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. We now have installed over 500 installations and have a raft of customers who are happy with their installation. We bring the same attention to detail that we bring to our large scale installations.
What Should you Expect.
One of our fully qualified consultants will come out to survey the property. This is where we are different to other companies. Your surveyor is also an energy assessor and will able to asses your property to see what grading the property will receive and so will be able to tell you what FIT tariff you will receive. On receipt of order we will produce the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for you to ensure you get the highest FIT possible. We will also be able to tell you what modifications you could make to the property to improve your energy efficiency. We will also produce a complete report for you on what your Solar Panel system will produce. This report takes into account the slope of your roof, the amount of sun at your specific locations and which way your house faces as well as any shading. You will also receive a full roof layout drawing from your surveyor so you can understand how the panels will look. Our Solar Panel Quotations will itemise every single item used in the installations and so there are no surprises. The solar Panel report contains all the information you may need it even shows how much the system will generate on a month by month basis.
How your system is fitted is or course very important. Solar Panels are fitted in different ways depending on what sort of roofs they are fitted to. The two main roofs that we see are slate and tile. In this section we will discuss the installation of Solar Panels to Tile roofs, of all the different types of roof our there these are probably the most simple. A Roof hook is installed on the main joist of the roof. The hook is installed with a minimum of two screws to avoid any twisting of the bracket. The tile is then simply replaced over the hook leaving the roof nice and water tight. Some times the front edge of the time may need to be ground away to ensure that the tile does not lift up at all at and let any water in. We have shown some pictures below.
Slate roofs are a bit more tricky. There are different methods for installing solar panels on a slate roof. The best option is to remove a slate and cut it where the roof hook is going to be installed. Fit the slate hook and then dress the gap with lead or a lead substitute. This is of course a little more time consuming than a tile roof but worth it. A slate roof can last a life time so the fixings put in it should be the best they can be. Other companies use slate bolts. These should only be used in extreme circumstances as they will not be as robust as the lead option again we have put some images below on how this should be done.
